Six feet from underground

[Flash fiction]

The physician grasped her hand as he delivered the news. “At eighty, the body cannot always recover from a fall,” he said. Through the hospital window she saw signs of spring. Flowers bloomed radiantly; nature’s rebirth signalling her demise. “I’ll prove you wrong,” she whispered. And she did, quite spectacularly.
